The slowdown occurred because the entire computer industry was faced with a shortage of components and high demand for computers. Samsung begins mass production of 90 Hz OLED screens for laptops.
It took another six months, but Samsung Display started mass-producing new OLED panels for laptops that have a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
The OLED screen will first appear on the new Asus Zenbook 14X and Vivobook Pro models that will be launched later this year. Samsung Display also considers Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung Electronics as customers, so you can expect the new 90Hz panels to be featured in future products.
A higher refresh rate will result in a smoother display image, especially when playing games. The company’s OLED technology also promises to compete with LCD panels with a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz.

According to internal testing by Samsung Display, the 90 Hz OLED panel exhibits a blur length of 0.9 mm, which is a 10% increase compared to the blur length of the 120 Hz LCD panel in video playback. Shorter blur length means less blur and clearer motion when watching videos,” says the Korean manufacturer.
The downside to the 90Hz refresh rate, however, is the potentially higher battery consumption. OLED panels also tend to drive up the price of laptops.
It remains unclear why Samsung Display has so far slowed the jump with the introduction of 90 Hz OLED panels. The company originally planned to start mass production in March.
Samsung Display did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But the slowdown comes as the entire computer industry has struggled with component shortages over the past year. Reuters
